Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture ?

Acupuncture literally means "needle piercing", the practice of inserting very fine needles into the skin to stimulate specific anatomic points in the body called acupoints or acupuncture points for therapeutic purposes. Along with the usual method of acupuncture, the practitioners of acupuncture also use heat, pressure, friction, suction or impulses of electromagnetic energy to stimulate the points. The acupuncture points are stimulated to balance the movement of energy (Qi) in the body to restore health.

Acupuncture promotes natural healing. It can improve recuperative power, alleviate pain, enhance immune system, support physical and emotional health and improve overall function and well-being. It is a safe, painless and effective way to treat a wide variety of medical conditions.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The number of treatments you will need depends on your overall health, your body's response to acupuncture treatment, and the nature and duration of your illness. Typically, the recommendation is two to three treatments per week for eight to sixteen treatments. Some patients respond favorably after one or two treatments, while others may not improve until the eleventh or twelfth treatment.

In general, acute conditions require fewer treatments than chronic conditions.

As in any form of healing, the patient's attitude, diet, determination and lifestyle will affect the outcome of a course of treatment.
